Using AI to help diagnose osteoarthritis: Dr Joseph Antony talks to the Irish Medical Times
Insight's Dr Joseph Antony was interviewed by Peter Doyle of the Irish Medical Times recently. Antony, a Postdoctoral Researcher at Insight Centre for Data Analytics at Dublin City University (DCU), is investigating the possibility of using state-of-the-art AI and convolutional neural networks (CNN) to identify early-stage osteoarthritis. In his recently published thesis, Automatic Quantification of Radiographic Knee Osteoarthritis Severity and Associated Diagnostic Features Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks, he wrote that he wants to advance the latest computer-aided diagnostics in order to “offer novel and effective solutions to automatically assess the severity of knee OA achieving on par with human accuracy”. In the article he discusses his research and the possibilities for AI assisted diagnosis into the future. You can read the full article here.
