Insight team shortlisted for €1m SFI Future Innovator Prize
Insight's Prof Barry O’Sullivan and Helmut Simonis along with UCC's Dr Jane Bourke and Prof Martin Curley of the HSE Digital Academy have made the shortlist for the €1m SFI Future Innovator Prize. According to Silicon Republic, the competition aims to challenge the country’s, "best and brightest unconventional thinkers and innovators to create novel, potentially disruptive technologies in collaboration with societal stakeholders and those who could benefit from them. Each of the teams are led by academic researchers and a ‘societal impact champion’ drawn from a range of disciplines and stakeholder groups, such as industry and civil society, in an effort to support convergent and collaborative problem-solving."
The shortlisted project, "An artificial intelligence and data analytics system for minimising hospital waiting lists and optimising healthcare capacity in Ireland" faces stiff competition from five other competing projects. The winner of the €1m fund will be announced in December. You can read all about it in Silicon Republic here.
