Funding Programme or Company Name:

DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES INNOVATION FUND

Funding Body:

Enterprise Ireland – Non-Commercialisation Award

Description:

The goal of this project is to provide a new, first-of-its-kind, reliable, verifiable, and totally secure end-to-end home patient monitoring system at scale which has: – a unique collaboration of prestigious Industry Players, consisting of two Irish SME’s; Davra and Danalto, a large multinational, Intel and an RPO partner, DCU. Google and Wachter will also be participating in this project as non DTIF funded partners. The consortium partners have the following strengths: a) have existing collaborations with each other in place b) have already assessed the potential for the proposed solution and who deem it feasible c) are committed to the project d) can bring the solution to Global Markets e) some partners are willing to pursue the project outside of DTIF funding, thereby bringing an important value-add to the DTIF grant contribution – state of the art research, – rich data, artificial intelligence, data integrity and best in class technology at its core. The Innovation in the proposal is the provision of Non-Intrusive, Remote, Healthcare Patient Monitoring via next-generation hardware and software that: a) does not exist today b) has potential to deliver a new global standard in Remote Healthcare Monitoring. Our system will utilise certified medical devices [1][2] through the Intel IHAP platform, Google Home Hub and home instrumentation through z- wave sensors [3]. We utilise this rich data through Danaltos data integrity software, Davra’s IoT AEP platform and Google Cloud Platform, facilitating the AI algorithms developed by Insight DCU to be deployed securely at scale. This project directly addresses a number of the national strategic objectives set out in project Ireland 2040 by – Strengthened Rural Economies and communities – Access to quality Child-Care, Education and Health Services – A Strong Economy, Supported by Enterprise Innovation and Skills. In addition to the main project partners and the non funded partners, the consortium is in the process of assembling two boards; A Clinical Board consisting of medical staff, doctors, nurses and caregivers and an Advisory Board which at present consists of Google Ireland, Social Innovation Fund Ireland, Wachter and BDO Healthcare. The consortium is also in discussions, (contingent on project funding) with the following people and organisations to join the advisory board: Prof. Martin Curley (CIO HSE and ex-Intel), Colin Mac Hale (Board eHealth) as well as an executive members from HIQA, St Vincent’s Hospital, Bluebird Care and HomeInstead in the coming months.
