Priyanka Verma

Research Fellow

Priyanka Verma is a Research Fellow at the University of Galway’s Data Science Institute, funded under the competitive SMART 4.0 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action. She also works as an adjunct lecturer in the College of Science & Engineering, University of Galway. Her main areas of research are focused on novel cybersecurity methods to detect and mitigate attacks in smart manufacturing systems.

Priyanka received her PhD from the ABV-Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management (an Institute of National Importance), first class Masters (M.Eng.), and Bachelor (B.Eng.) degrees from the State Technological University of Madhya Pradesh (NAAC Grade A University).

Priyanka has significant teaching experience, most recently as an Assistant Professor at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology. While there, she taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the university level. As well as speaking at national/international workshops and conferences over the years, she has also taught at ABV-IIITM in India as a teaching assistant during her PhD.

In addition, Priyanka has published multiple scientific contributions in journals and conferences, and her citation record has been on an upward trend, with an increased number of citations. She has also spoken about cybersecurity in various conferences and workshops and public events, including a number of talks at both academic and industry events. In her academic and teaching career, she has received various awards and appreciated by her students and colleagues for her dedication and high-quality work.

Priyanka has been working in the USS research group at the Data Science Institute. Priyanka also supervises projects, students and interns in her domain of expertise, which aligns to the “Excellence” priority of the University of Galway’s 2020-2025 Strategy: “Realising potential through data and enabling technologies” / “advanced computing platforms and services”, and its associated activities in the national Confirm SFI Centre for Smart Manufacturing.
