Dr Steven Prestwich is a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science & I.T., University College Cork, Ireland. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester (UK) and an MA in mathematics from the University of Oxford (UK). He worked in two industrial research centres before becoming an academic. He is currently an investigator in two Irish research grants: The Insight Centre for Data Analytics, and the Confirm smart manufacturing project; both involving several universities and are multi-million-euro projects. His research activities include Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research, with publications in each area and a Google Scholar h-index of 28. He is especially interested in hybrids of optimisation and machine learning for solving hard real-world problems. His current work includes deep learning, forecasting, bilevel optimisation, and supply chain optimisation and constraint acquisition.
