Kashif Shaheed

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Kashif Shaheed is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, University of Galway. He completed his PhD  in Computer Science and Technology from School of Computer Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, where his research focused on developing deep learning frameworks for finger vein recognition technology. His research interests include deep learning, machine learning, computer vision, and biometric finger vein recognition.

He has extensive experience as a research collaborator on various research projects, particularly in medical image analysis related projects. He has worked as research collaborator with investigators from Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Shandong Jianzhu University, Jinan, China. He has involved and have an experience of writing research proposals for various major research funding agencies around the globe.

Dr. Shaheed is actively engaged in academic and community service, contributing as a reviewer for journals, participating in international conferences, and extensive experience of writing research proposal for research grants. He has authored and co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed research papers, making significant contributions to the fields of machine learning, computer vision, medical image analysis, and finger vein recognition.
