Dr Lan Yang (PhD, MEngSc, ME, BE) works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Unit for Social Semantics at Insight, NUI, Galway. She completed her PhD in September 2020 at NUI Galway, funded by Hardiman Scholarship, co-supervised by Tsinghua University. After graduation, she continued working in NUI Galway and advising PhD and Master students. Before joining Insight, NUI, Galway, she delivered lectures in the College of Science and Engineering and Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development and conducted research at the Enterprise Research Centre. Her research interests include formal ontologies, knowledge graphs, semantic web, big data, and their applications in various domains, e.g., systems engineering, materials and manufacturing, healthcare, and supply chain management. She has constantly been cooperating with reputed universities and organisations such as Tsinghua University, the University of Oxford, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and the International Council on Systems Engineering and publishing papers in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Computers in Industry, Sustainability (Switzerland). Her research achievements have been recognised through plenary presentations at international conferences and symposia. She is a reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals in her field and a scientific committee member for many international conferences.
