Dr. Aoife Morrin

Funded Investigator

Personal Sensing

Dr Aoife Morrin is Associate Professor at the School of Chemical Sciences at DCU where she lectures in Analytical Chemistry. She is also the current Director of the National Centre for Sensor Research (www.ncsr.ie) at DCU. Dr Morrin leads the Research Strand ‘Sample & Sense’ in Insights Research Challenge Sensing & Actuation. Dr Morrin’s own research interests lie in biochemical sensor platform development where her focus has been on material developments enabling electrochemical and optical transduction in sensors. She has a specific interest in wearable sensor formats and approaches using soft responsive materials in new detection strategies that can be assembled on the skin surface. She also studies the skin volatile emission profile for identification of new biomarkers and signatures of disease for future wearable biodiagnostic sensor applications. Dr Morrin has published >60 peer-reviewed papers, 1 edited book, 3 book chapters. (H-Index: 29; citations>4000).
