The Unit for Natural Language Processing [1] at the National University of Ireland Galway [2] invites applications for two fully funded PhD positions in NLP associated with the research program on Multimodal Data Analysis of the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics [3].

Topics of interest include:
– relation extraction in the context of knowledge graph development
– empathic or context-aware dialogue systems
– semantics in social media analysis

Candidates should enjoy working with real-world problems as well as have:
– a Masters degree in a relevant field of study with an emphasis on NLP
– experience in machine learning and deep learning
– good programming skills in Python
– good proficiency in English
