Insight spinout Generait launches AI-powered legal document tool

Submitted on Wednesday, 13/08/2025

Insight spinout company Generait officially launched last month, bringing its AI-powered legal document drafting tool and compliance checker to an eager market. Emerging from the DCU incubation environment in July, Eoin Brophy’s game-changing AI software for law firms and financial services has big clients lining up to use the tool as soon as ISO compliance is secured next month.

These clients include a major New York-based asset management firm and one of the largest law firms in Ireland. A significant Irish public service body is also in the mix.

You ca read about the software in RTÉ Brainstorm.

Since its inception in 2024, the Generait solution has been extensively trialled in a number of legal firms. Without ISO 27001 compliance to demonstrate reliable entity status, however, the software has remained untested in a commercial setting. That’s about to change, thanks to Pre Seed Start Fund investment of €100k from Enterprise Ireland.

‘Before this investment we ran on a shoestring, just working to keep everyone on board until we could take the next step,’ says Generait CEO Eoin Brophy, who developed the software with support from Professor Tomás Ward, director of Insight at DCU.

‘At the highest level, Generait drafts legal documents. However, as it has developed it now checks compliance against up-to-date changes in regulation and guidance. It completes forms for the regulator with a 60 per cent faster rate of transfer to the Central Bank. Our Smart Compliance feature red-flags issues of non-compliance with best practice, internal policies and new guidelines, as well as regulation. We have tools set up to monitor ongoing changes in regulatory authority practices.’

Once Generait achieves ISO compliance  its clients will have the confidence to share real data with the software and produce commercial results. ‘In the next two weeks we should be ready to go,’ says Brophy. ‘In the meantime we still work closely with Tomás Ward and DCU, and we rely on the Insight talent pipeline and the unique skillset that Insight offers.’
