AI pioneer Professor Stuart Russell, professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, will deliver the keynote address at ‘AI and Society’ taking place on Wednesday, November 8th, in the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

This event will address the new challenges presented by generative AI, the influence of AI recommender algorithms in society and how the immense opportunities presented by AI may be safeguarded through regulation, governance and ethical AI design.

The event will be opened by Ireland’s AI Ambassador, Patricia Scanlon, and Professor Russell’s keynote will be followed by a deep dive panel discussion with Niamh Hodnett, Online Safety Commissioner of Ireland, Professor Barry O’Sullivan, Director of the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics at UCC and Professor Debbie Ging, Professor of Digital Media at Dublin City University. They will consider key issues pertaining to AI, ethics, regulation and the societal impact of AI today.

This event is a partnership between Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, UCD Institute for Discovery and UCD Centre for Digital Policy.
