Dr. Brian Mac Namee received a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. After working in industry he joined DIT where he co-founded the Applied Intelligence Researcher Centre. In 2013 Brian was awarded the DIT Fíosraigh Research Excellence Award. In 2015 Brian joined UCD where he is a lecturer, Director of the SFI Centre for Research Training in Machine Learning, and a Funded Investigator at the Insight and VistaMilk SFI research centres. Brian co-authored the textbook “Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Examples and Case Studies” published in 2015 with MIT Press and being  translated into 4 languages. Brian’s research interests are in machine learning, and in particular novelty detection, human-in-the-loop machine learning, and machine learning applications.
