Komala Pandurangan

Personal Sensing

Dr. Komala Pandurangan earned her Masters and M. Phil degree in chemistry (2001) from University of Madras, India. After finishing M. Phil, she worked as a research assistant at Indian Institute of Science for four years. She gained research experience in synthetic organic chemistry, bile acid chemistry with Prof. Uday Maitra and Prof. S. Chandrasekaran at IISc.

She received her PhD at University College Dublin (2011) under the supervision of Dr. Grace Morgan. She carried out her postdoctoral research at Trinity College Dublin with Prof. Thorfinnur Gunnlaugsson in the research area of anion sensing, supramolecular gels and lanthanide self-assembly (2011-2015).  Then she worked as a Research Associate in the bioorganic synthesis group of Prof. T. Govindaraju (2017) at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore.

In October 2018, she joined as a Postdoctoral fellow in the INSIGHT Centre at Dublin City University with Prof. Dermot Diamond. Her research work focuses on the synthesis of novel photo-responsive gels for microfluidic applications and sensing.
