Highly experienced innovator with over 25 years’ experience in collaborative research & development roles. Have a unique blend of technical, program and people management developed while working on some of the largest telecoms infrastructural projects over the last three decades. I am highly motivated, pragmatic, and hard working with a practical experience of start-up (Aldiscon, DigitalGaitLabs) and corporate environments (Motorola, Nokia).
From 2004, I have worked as a senior researcher at the world-famous Bell Labs, carrying out research into edge devices/sensors, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, have authored 10 patents and over 20 publications. In the last 4 years, I have won commercialisation awards from Enterprise Ireland to bring my medical device research (i.e. GaitKeeper Project) from whiteboard to market. (www.gaitkeeper.ie).
My passion lies in taking research or advanced development from the lab to industry.
The GaitKeeper project overview: GaitKeeper is a state of the art, single camera, digital gait analysis system – making gait analysis as easy as recording a video. GaitKeeper takes gait analysis out of the lab and puts it into the hands of clinicians. GaitKeeper is CE marked and a class 1 medical device.
