Dr Alejandro Arbelaez is a lecturer in the School of Computer Science & Information Technology at UCC. He received his PhD in computer science from Université Paris XI in 2011 for his work on applying learning-based techniques to solve combinatorial problems. His research interests lie in the area of artificial intelligence with a particular focus on Optimization, Machine Learning, Network Design, Metaheuristics and Applying Machine Learning to solve hard combinatorial problems. Dr Arbelaez has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in top journals, conferences, and international workshops and he also regularly serves as a PC member of several international conferences including: AAAI, IJCAI, LOD, CP, CPAIOR, LION, etc.
