Insight researchers have launched a revolutionary new app, Pace-Man, which will help marathon runners predict and pace their marathon. The app leverages the peer-reviewed literature on marathon running and massive datasets of marathon race times to act as a personal coach throughout the race and help runners hit their marathon targets.

Insight@DCU took home a stunning eight accolades from the DCU Invent Commercialisation Awards 2018 yesterday.
Dr Patricia Moore and Prof Noel O’Connor won for their work on the Smart Site Survey for Panalpina.
Dr Suzanne Little, Dr Dian Zhang, Camille Ballas and their team won an award for their work on Implementation and Benchmarking of Deep Learning Neural Networks on Edge Devices.

A major international conference on the subject of electronic governance (EGOV) is being held in Insight@Galway this week.
Nearly 200 participants from 49 countries around the world will come to Galway to attend ICEGOV 2018 which will run from the 3rd to the 6th of April.
ICEGOV is a series of International Conferences on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance taking place annually around the world. This year it is being hosted by the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI Galway.

Open Access Smart Cities(OASC) Ireland, an initiative coordinated by Insight, has been selected as winner of the Smart 50 Awards Smart Cities Connect. The Smart 50 Awards, in partnership with Smart Cities Connect, Smart Cities Connect Foundation, and US Ignite, annually recognize global smart cities projects. They honour the most innovative and influential work. This year, primary categories included governance, mobility, energy, citizen life, and networks.

Insight's Dr Larisa Florea (pictured on the right) has been awarded a prestigious Irish Research Council Laureate Award. The awards are part of a move by the Government to to substantially increase “frontier research” by allocating €30 million to third level institutions in 36 projects approved by the Irish Research Council.

Insight's new partnershop with the International Energy Research Centre (IERC), Enerport was widely reported over the weekend. EnerPort is a new project that was launched this week at the IERC annual conference in Cork and it envisages a future where Irish consumers will be able to gift or sell their solar power across their neighbourhood.
