Stimul.ai, a new spin-out company from the Insight SFI Centre at UCC, has the potential to radically reduce hospital waiting list times, according to founders Naomh McElhatton and Prof Barry O’Sullivan.

The SaaS based solution is a strategic clinical design tool built to minimise hospital waiting lists. Using novel technology developed at the Insight SFI Centre, Stimul.ai provides a system that supports hospital administrations in capacity planning decisions.

The innovation will support and guide hospitals on how to best allocate times that best match their patient category requirements, without the interruption to daily working practice. This is the first technology solution of its kind.

Stimul.ai founders include entrepreneur CEO Naomh McElhatton (Irish Times Top Five Entrepreneurs to Watch 2019) and Professor Barry O’Sullivan, past President of the European AI Association and award-winning academic in the fields of artificial intelligence, constraint programming, prescriptive analytics, ethics and public policy. Prof O’Sullivan is a director of the Insight SFI Centre for Data Analytics, Ireland’s largest data research institute and has been appointed Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for Stimul.ai.

Professor Noel O’Connor, CEO of the Insight SFI Centre for Data Analytics, welcomed the announcement saying: ‘We are proud to add Stimul.ai to the growing network of Insight spin out companies. This is yet another example of successful collaboration between Science Foundation Ireland, the universities and industry to bring excellent research from concept to fruition.
