What can the data tell you about running a better marathon?
For the hardy folk running the Dublin Marathon on Monday, Prof Barry Smyth has been collating and analysing figures to get to the facts of marathon running. In his blog, Running with Data he has crunched 15 years worth of marathon data from all over the world and has come to a number of interesting conclusions about how marathons have changed over the years, and how the profile of the people running them is changing as well.
The blog has generated a lot of interest. You can read an article published in today's Irish Times here, Silicon Republic wrote about it here and Dublin Live ran a feature here. The blog has featured on a number of international blogs and sites. Watch and listen out for pieces featuring it on RTE television and radio as well.
