    Insight at UCD scored a double victory at the International Body Sensor Networks Conference held in the Netherlands this week. Cillian Buckley won best paper/oral presentation. The paper authors also included Martin O’Reilly, Darragh Whelan and Brian Caulfield. In addition to that Martin O’Reilly also picked up the 'student colloquium' prize! Well done all.

    Matthew Flood was awarded a Fulbright - NUI Visiting Researcher Scholarship to complete part of his PhD at the Motion Analysis Lab in the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, MA. Matthew’s work in Spaulding will use remote wireless sensing technology to assess motor control in individuals with Parkinson's disease in their home environments.

    The Niwa-Takayanagi Best Paper Prize is awarded by the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers (ITE) in Japan to those who have made outstanding achievements in the field of video information media and in promoting basic research in this field.he 57th Niwa-Takayanagi award is given to George Awad (Dakota Consulting, Inc; NIST), Cees G.M Snoek (University of Amsterdam), Alan F. Smeaton (Insight, Dublin City University) and Georges Quénot (Univ. Grenoble Alpes) for their paper entitled "TRECVid Semantic Indexing: a 6-Year Retrospective”, published in 2016.

    Danielle Bruen was awarded a travel bursary grant from the European Biophysics Association to attend the 4th International Conference on Analytical and Nanoanalytical Methods for Biomedical and Environmental Sciences (IC-ANMBES) 2016. The conference was held in the Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania and her oral presentation was entitled “Two-Component Fluorescence Sensing of Saccharides”.
